I'm Getting Braver

So I know that my last post was about skiing, but really that's the most interesting thing I do these days. I got up the courage to finally do some hiking and backcountry skiing this year. (Yes, I actually hiked...a big deal for those of you who know me well) I took this picture with my phone at the top of the nintey-nine nintey peak at The Canyons. Dave, you should be proud of me, and Russ I'm not sure if "Slaughter House" still exists, but this sign is pretty scary! For any doubters out there, I did walk through that gate...and I survived!

When I was in college I lived just past those gates,,,,,,,oh the memories. Hope you had some good times yourself.
Alli use to hate this hike cause going past that gate was only the start, we would hike together over the ridge, either Square top to the right or over the ridge to Peak 5.
She thought the "you could die" sign meant that you could die from the hike, it was a leg burner:)

Is that for real????

That's why I don't ski anymore I guess. . . I'm glad you lived, boo.

That sign is hilarious (but sadly true).
My philosophy.... We are paying those big bucks at the resort so that we can RIDE up on the lifts and have the slopes GROOMED. You guys are all crazy! But then this is coming from someone who put a heavy backpack on Mandy and dragged her around the Uintahs.
I'm also glad you didn't die, but if you're going to be crazy like Alli and Dave, then it is time to get a HELMET!

You forgot to mention how we dragged you up the hill kicking and screaming both times, but other than that its pretty accurate...

Ah yes, the gate of death! And Dave's not kidding, I really took that gate to mean that I was going to die from the hikes Dave forced me to do at a breakneck pace. . .the gate was only the beginning to the torture. Oh but the powder was worth it.

I do have to admit that carrying a snowboard was much easier that carrying skis and poles, I was lucky that way I guess.

What a hilarious sign! I don't recall seeing it during my skiing days. I guess that's because I agree completely with Mom, I pay to be lifted up the slopes and to enjoy the smooth groomed runs. I'm glad you're getting braver, sometimes I wish I would have pushed myself harder, I would have turned out a much better skier I'm sure.
